Item Description
In the late 1990s, this long-defunct specimen locality (which had a last big run in the 1960s or so) spurted out a few pockets of intensely colored, lustrous, iridescent smithsonite with incredibly good color such as the piece you see here. I had several flats of the cherrypick of the find, at the time, and I put a few pieces away for the future. Little did I know, I'd lose track of where I put them til now, almost ten years later! Although the mine is still producing specimens to this day, they are not of this same color intensity and style. There is a wide spectrum of colors, but I have not seen this intense shade, since the late 90s. THis is a large piece, and displays vividly. the Photos just do not do the color justice. It is darker and more translucent than the deepest blue Kelly Mine smithsonite from the USA. Mass is 1260 grams. Valued $2500
