Item Description

Leadville is well known for its Silver deposits, but the secondary ore minerals from the Sherman mine are beloved by Colorado collectors. Here we have a nice secondary ore specimen from this classic locality. This piece features a good coverage of translucent, semi-lustrous, greenish-blue Smithsonite crystals on matrix. I also found a tiny blue ball of Rosatite on the piece as well when I was looking at it under the microscope. I know its not what you typically expect from a Colorado specimen, and this material is rare from this mine. This specimen is close to 30 years old as it was collected circa 1980.
