Item Description
Two generations of smithsonite botryoids colorfully coat the very 3-dimensional matrix of brown stalactitic hematite-goethite on this excellent sculptural cabinet specimen from the famous Potosi Mine at Santa Eulalia. Waxy lustre translucent gray botryoids are a stark contrast to the white smithsonite that surrounds the tips of the protruding stalactites. This fine material is reminiscent to the well-known smithsonite from the renowned Broken Hill deposit in Australia and is probably from the 2014 at the Postosi Mine. See Page 162 of the outstanding 2018 Mineralogical Record Mexico Special Issue VIII, Vol. 49, No. 1. Choice material from the find from the Gary Weaver Collection.
