Item Description
Lustrous, blocky, cream-colored, smithsonite rhombs to 1.5 cm cover one face of the sculptural boxwork matrix of pink dolomite on this very showy and excellent specimen from the famous Tsumeb Mine. Interestingly, the smithsonite chemistry was highly variable on this piece, as the smithsonites on the bottom are all tiny scalenohedrons, rather than rhombs! All sides of the L-shaped dolomite crust have smithsonite crystals.
