Item Description
The various mines around Lavrion, Greece have been a source of metals and minerals literally dating back thousands of years. Today most collectors are familiar with the attractive secondary species associated with the area, which are still being found today. This piece is a classic example of the beautiful Smithsonites from the Hilarion Mine featuring attractive silvery-lilac colored aggregates that measure to about 3 mm, on oxidized matrix. There are Smithsonites on all sides of the piece, but the front/display side has the richest concentration of crystals. They look beautiful up close, and we've included some macro photos to better illustrate their quality.
