Item Description
Smaltite is the arsenic-deficient variety of skutterudite and is quite uncommon worldwide and is rare in display-quality specimens. This is a very rich and showy specimen of sharp, lustrous, metallic-gray, isometric crystals with quartz. Crystals reach about 1.1 cm and cover two sides. Rich ore here. This is exceptional quality old-time material with very large crystals from the historic Schneeberg District and has several fine display views. 276 grams. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and acquired in an trade with the Modena Mineral Museum in 1978. There are two, old 1800's to early 1900's number labels on the piece.
