Very rich and impressive large old-time skutterudite from the historic and famous mines at Schneeberg. Brilliant silver-metallic, sharp cubic skutterudite crystals are densely intergrown and richly and attractively cover the large undulating vug on the hefty, large and sculptural sulfide and quartz matrix. The crystals reach 9 mm, which is good-sized for the locale. See the excellent 2018 Mineralogical Record Schneeberg Special Issue in Vol. 49, No. 5. 1353 grams or 3.0 pounds mass. Ex Herb Obodda Collection Nr. 1072b, a very well-known East Coast USA dealer and collector. This is exceptional, rich and large high quality old-time cobalt arsenide with large crystals from the historic Schneeberg District is probably more than 100 years old. Fairly valued at his old price of $4500 for quality, richness and size. This is from the personal collection of Obodda, which was surely one of the most important collections of our century focusing on the German classics!
