Item Description

Skutterudite is EXTREMELY RARE from the Svornost Mine, an old Ag-Co-As-U mine of the historic and extinct Jachymov area. MINDAT lists the species for the locale, but there are no examples in the Photo Gallery. Euhedral to subhedral crystals, to 1.8 cm, are prominently visible along one edge of the large, very rich and showy layered ore matrix of skutterudite and quartz. Granular skutterudite covers most of the top of the piece. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection, a noted Czech specialist. Rare, perhaps UNIQUE material from the locale. A must for the species or locality collector.
