Item Description

Skutterudite is a rare cobalt arsenide species, named after Skutterud, Norway, where it was first discovered. Typically the crystals are only a few mm, but the pieces from Morocco are some of the finest examples ever found with not only big crystals, but they are fine quality to boot! This is a very attractive small cabinet display specimen featuring good sized, sharp, metallic, lustrous, very well-formed, modified, octahedral / cubic crystal with a bright silvery-white coloration measuring up to 1.7 cm. I have to stress that it's quite difficult to find crystals of Skutterudite this size, as they are almost NEVER seen in such fine crystallized examples with smooth, sharp faces like this. The piece is not without damage, but the central crystals are in very good condition.
