Item Description
A very attractive small cabinet / large miniature sized group of big, sharp, lustrous, very well-formed, modified, dodecahedral / octahedral / cubic crystals with a bright silvery-white coloration sitting on matrix. The largest crystal measures 2.9 cm at its longest dimension. Minor edge wear, but still an impressive example of the species. These are some of the best example of Skutterudite in the world for what they are, and they honestly don't get enough credit for the size and quality. If these were from Europe, they would be valued much higher. With that said, we had this piece priced at $1850 in the inventory. On top of that, the piece comes from the world famous collection of noted mathematician on the faculty of the University of California, Berkeley and Fields Medal winner in 1966, Dr. Stephen Smale.
