Item Description
Sharp, lustrous, modified crystals of Skutterudite rise up from the massive Skutterudite and carbonate matrix like the Great Pyramids. Skutterudite in crystalline form is rare from here, and these crystals, up to 4 mm, are attractive for what they are. Interestingly, the Gortdrum Mine is unique for being the only mine in the British Isles to have produced mercury, even when a by-product as seen here. Rare! Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection.
