Item Description
Skinnerite is a very rare copper antimony sulfosalt found in about a dozen localities around the world. It was first discovered in 1974 and was named after Brian Skinner (born in 1928), a Eugene Higgins Prof essor of Geology at Yale University. This piece hails from the manganese deposit at Bankov, Kosice Region, Slovakia where some of the best examples of the species are known. Tiny dark grey colored Skinnerites are associated with what I'm assuming to be Malachite on matrix. If you collect rare minerals, don't pass this one up, they are seldom seen on the market for sale. I found a good bio for Brian Skinner at the following link http://what-when-how.com/earth-scientists/skinner-brian-j-earth-scientist/
