Item Description
A sharp, lustrous Simpsonite crystal is associated with a small group of Tantalite-(Mn) from the Alto do Giz pegmatite, the best locality in the world for the species! This well-formed, yellow-orange crystal of this rare aluminum-tantalum oxy-hydroxide measures 1.3 cm across and has a small, 6 mm, fanned cluster of reddish, bladed Tantalite-(Mn) crystals near the bottom on one side. It's an excellent thumbnail for the species with an apropos association!This piece, along with others, was brought up from Brazil by Fred Pough in the 1940s when he made a famous find here. Incredibly rare on market today.
