Item Description

A rarely seen sawed slice of the actual ore from the famous Smuggler Mine in Aspen, Colorado. This locality is probably the best known silver producer in the region, and has yielded some beautiful wire specimens that you'll find in old collection and museums. This piece features metallic reflective spots of silvery-grey Native Silver along with white Barite, grey-black Pearceite, plus dark grey-black Tennantite and coal black Sphalerite. You don't see many pieces of this richness or size from the Smuggler Mine on the market, and in truth, you don't see much Smuggler material period anymore these days. Don't miss out on this one if you're a fan of native elements, sulfides or interesting pieces from historic localities, especially from Colorado. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
