Item Description

A fantastic sliced specimen of the famous and unique Silver / Amethyst specimens from Creede. These pieces are well-known around the world for their beauty and rarity. Sure, there are thousands of localities where Silver is found around the world, but rarely in association with Amethyst like this. To be fair the Quartz on this specimen is more "Amethystine" than deep purple Amethyst, but you can see the color in good lighting. Small eye-catching "wires" of Silver can be seen in the seams / veins of the Amethystine Quartz which have formed in breccia to create a very attractive overall cabinet sized piece. The front face of the specimen has been sliced to better show how the piece formed. Very hard to find on the market these days, and a true classic from Creede. The piece looks gorgeous up close. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
