Item Description

The Hongda Mine has produced some truly iconic specimens of native silver, particular some really attractive wire specimens. This piece was actually one of the very first specimens to hit the US market from the Hongda Mine and features a thick, robust, hearty group of attractive crystalline groups of silver intergrown with attractive strated wires measuring up to 1.0 cm long associated with white massive calcite. The piece is wonderfully three-dimensional and displays well from a few directions, but the most enjoyable viewing experience is actually up close with magnification, as there are so many gorgeous crystal faces, wires and "sponge" or dendritic growths to be seen everywhere. Part of the specimen has a fantatic antique-looking patina, whie other spots have a much brighter luster. If you collect native elements, silver or minerals of China, do not pass up this really attractive and not-so-typical example from this famous locality. Valued in the inventory at $2,000 retail.
