Item Description

A rich and very showy, old-time combination specimen from this historic copper mine, that opened in the 1500s and closed in 1860. A thick, well-placed ore vein of dentritic, herringbone-style, spinel-twinned silver crystals are peppered with tiny bright, metallic crystals of safflorite, an uncommon Co-arsenide. The spinel-twins are probably either nickelskutterudite or rammelsbergite (Ni-arsenides) pseudomorphs after silver. Excellent, two-sided, seldom combination available material from this ancient locale. Valued at $2500. I have not seen comparable for sale. from the collection of Bob Whitmore.
