Silver w/ Acanthite (251 grams) self-collected by Art Soregaroli

Item Description

An impressive, sculptural, thick and RARE vein mass of solid hackly silver from this well-known silver mine. This century-old silver mine is famous for beautiful arborescent wire silver specimens. The silver has a pretty highly variable patina and a small amount of embedded quartz. Some areas have a dark gray acanthite coating, especially the striking knob at one end. Vein silver of this style is VERY RARE from here. See the Mineralogical Record article on the mine in the 1989, Vol. 20, No. 6 issue. Self-collected by Art Soregaroli circa 1960, as the mine was part of his Doctorate in Geology study area at the University of British Columbia. Mass is 251 grams. Valued at $2000.
