Silver variety "Feather Silver"

These specimens of so called "feather silver" came out in the days of East Germany and the Cold War, long held by collectors in East Germany and treasured by Western collectors when we could get them. Specimens of this high quality are rare, and only came out in the old stashes from the 1980s or before. They require careful prepping by a talented mineral collector who knows the material, and can carefully clean the silver while not damaging it. Specimens like this, with open, forward-facing crystals of this quality, are so rare and desirable, but we do not see many today. This comes from an old stash, said to be from the 1960s, recently obtained in a German collection by dealer Wolli Wendel. During COVID, he carefully prepped them up and prepared some of the finest feather silver specimens we have seen come to market in decades, such as this one. This is a one-time stash, a rare shot at obtaining a truly superb quality of this old classics style. This is a large, heavy specimen with a huge display face, on silver-arsenical ore. It is about 440 grams. Specimens like this have mostly now been sold, and were priced retail at $5000 and up.
