Item Description
A very fine, showy, flat "sheet" of Native Silver from the famous Mansfeld Basin of Germany. The piece has a rich old patina and looks beautiful from either side. It's very rare to have eye-catching display specimens of Silver from this area, as the few specimens I've seen are typcially nondescript "lumps". A great overall piece from this ancient district, where mining started around 1200 and finally ceased in 1969. Weighs 4.06 grams. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4962). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Valued at $600.
