Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of native silver from the little known Della S. Mine in Aspen, Colorado. While the Aspen District is best known for its historic silver specimens, (many of which you'll find in old collections and museums), very little material is available on the market today. This piece features crystalline / subhedral aggregates of silver with a dark patina associated with minor Sphalerite, Barite and Acanthite with tiny flashes of iridescent Bornite or Chalcopyrite. You don't see many pieces of this richness or size from Aspen on the market, and in truth, this piece probably dates back to the 1880s, so it's nearly 150 years old. Don't miss out on this one if you're a fan of native elements, sulfides or interesting pieces from historic localities, especially from Colorado.
