Item Description
This is perhaps the best deal in the auctions for somebody who knows what it is and what they are after, a stellar, 3-dimensional, LARGE cluster of silver that has completely replaced a crazy jigsaw-cluster of dyscrasite crystals. It is 500 grams, mostly of silver as you can tell by how the heft is balanced in your hand. While these ar enot particularly rare - many came out in the Soviet era - large and aesthetic specimens are certainly uncommon. I have seen pieces of this magnitude on sale at the Munich show for 3000-5000 euros and in one case more. In the US, they seldom turn up...although every now and then you can find one that is the more valuable silver, labelled only as dyscrasite. This is a top-shelf specimen of this material, worthy of the finest collections of classics or silver minerals. It is worth 2500-3500 on the US market, but seems to me to be valued much higher in the European theatres and again, I would not blink twice if I saw on a shelf for much more. Luckily, I got it in a trade and can afford to liquidate it here at a bargain price - but I will maintain its one of the best things put in this auction!
