Item Description

An amazingly diverse, very rich and rare silver sulfosalt specimen with free gold and pyrite from the famous Creede District. The larger subhedral crystals on one end are splendent, silver-metallic, translucent cherry-red proustite or pyrargyrite crystals. Disks or platelets of brown arsen-polybasite are readily visible, as are brassy pyrite. The amalgam, free gold and acanthite are harder to see. MINDAT does not list the sulfosalt species for the Homestake claim at Creede, only silver. Most likely this piece is from the Bulldog Mountain Mine at Creede, which lists most of the sulfosalts. Either way, this is an EXTREMELY RARE and rich silver sulfosalt with gold specimen from the famous Creede District. A must for the Colorado or species collector. Ex Jaime Bird Collection. Value???
