Silver on Chalcocite (rare locality specimen)

Item Description

Silver specimens are rare from Tsumeb, especially presentable piece with a clearly visible amount of Silver on them. This piece is a wonderful thumbnail featuring a rich patch of Silver with a slight patina that is sitting on massive Chalcocite (a copper sulfide) matrix, which is rare not just for Tsumeb, but worldwide. The silver is a thin crystalline layer that formed in a vein cracks in the ore, and then the piece was cracked open to expose the treasure inside. There is a tiny bit of an unknown green mineral on the specimen (possibly just Malachite, but it's too small to really identify visually). If you collect Tsumeb minerals or worldwide Silvers, this is a great chance to pick up something that you almost never see available on the market.
