Contrasting snow-white Calcite is the host for brilliant, elongate Silver crystals that completely encircle the Calcite on this rare specimen Balcoll Mine in Catalonia, Spain. This rich, dendritic Silver specimen comes from a famous old specimen deposit in Spain that actually was found and worked for Silver in Roman times! This piece exhibits fantastic contrast between the dense wreath of bright to slightly tarnished Silver crystals on the white, slightly etched, snow-white Calcite, all on a sliver of pale gray limestone matrix. The Silver crystals are arborescent with abundant spinel twins and crystals up to nearly 1 cm in length. The color and textural contrast is nice!
