Item Description
This is a spectacular tower of silver, completely covered with exquisite crystallization 360-degrees around. Pohla silvers are known for their extremely photogenic, spinel-twinned, herringbone-like crystallization, which you see here in all its intricate glory. The silver is embedded in massive matrix of silver and arsenic ore. It is a great piece from the days when the Soviets mined the place. Ex Dr. Ed David Collection, Science Advisor and Chair of the White House Office of Science and Technology under President Nixon, among his other positions. Very hefty at 1.5 pounds. They are gracile, almost soft, crystals, embedded in firm matrix. Specimens of this superb and rich quality are not that common. A major spiker for this auction. It is unusually large and fine for an example of this classic to go to auction, and should be. Valued at $2000-2500 and comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $150, for free.
