Silver ex Jack Halpern Collection

A gorgeous, serpentine cluster of curved Silver wires from the famous Sarbai Mine of Kazakhstan, from major finds here in the 1990s that once were astonishing new material from the former Soviet Bloc, when they came to market. These delicate wires have a superb patina, and the aesthetics from either side are outstanding. Kazakhstan Silvers compare very favorably with wire Silvers from Kongsberg and Germany. In fact, when I first saw this I immediately thought 'Frieberg'. Just a wonderful miniature in every respect, the form of this piece very much reminds me of the long, beautiful ribbons used in rhythmic gymnastics, as they flicker through the air.
