Item Description
Silver-copper "halfbreeds" are a highly desirable combination from renowned Copper Country. This hefty sculptural rounded specimen is mostly native copper with a mellow patina. Rich patches of silver are embedded on all sides of the piece. Crevasses on the front, top and back and the rounded form, possibly from alluvial or glacial rounding, add pizzazz to this excellent old-timer from the Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. The 13 mm label on the back with three lines of exquisite printing is from a collection, that was auctioned in 1908! $3 was not cheap in those days! Valued today at $1000.
