Item Description
Cobalt is one of the great silver-producing districts, not only in Canada but the world. The Northern Ontario Business website has the following information listed, "Between 1904 and 1989, the entire Cobalt camp produced 550 million ounces of silver, 26 million pounds of cobalt, and 2 million pounds of nickel. Peak mining was in 1911 with 75 mines operating in the area. One-sixth of that total silver production came from mines at the Silver Kings Project". This specimen is a classic piece of this beloved material featuring excellent, classic, micro-crystallized and dendritic/arborescent pseudo-wires and "Spinel"-twinned-esque groups, free of matrix. The piece is quite fun to view under magnification. One side has a lovely antique patina, while the reverse side shows a bit brighter more metallic looking crystals. Weight is 12.8 grams.
