Item Description

About 5 years ago, a small group of miners risked losing their jobs at the Porco mine, and "liberated" some specimens from being sent to the smelter in an attempt to make some extra for their families. I was fortunate enough to obtain a few of these pieces, and they are by far some of the better contemporary Silver specimens that I've seen from this mine in a long time. Typically the Silver specimens from Bolivia are somewhat "flat" and boring, but this piece is somewhat aesthetic for a Bolivian Silver. It is a showy group with good form and eye-catching aesthetics featuring somewhat arborescent and crystalline forms, associated with minor Sphalerite. This is a good overall specimen from a classic Bolivian locality, and keep in mind that Porco is THE oldest and most significant Silver mine in Bolivia. Enjoy.
