Item Description
A beautiful "sheet" or "leaf" of nearly 100% solid native silver from the famous Cobalt District in Ontario, Canada. The piece comes with a tiny hand-written label that simply gives "Cobalt" as the locality, no specific mine. It has a gentle elegance, and an almost organic appearance, along with a classic patina that gives the piece character. This is not just a "chunk" of Silver, it's an important example of what made Cobalt such an significant mining district, not only in Canada, but all of North America. The specimen weighs 20.85 grams and would make a nice addition to any suite of native elements, Canadian minerals or worldwide Silvers. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
