Item Description

Engaging concave vug of sharply crystallized metallic silver, sparkling Silicon Carbide man-made crystals. The large, up to 1.5 cm in width, thin hexagonal crystals form a sculptural interconnected network across the elongated vug. There is a fine micro dusting present on the larger crystals that allows for a more visual crystal contrast. While this is not a natural crystal, it still presents a beautiful crystalline display. The remaining areas of the piece have a lustrous mirror-like brilliance from the myriad of small metallic faces. An exquisite and interesting man-made specimen from the collection of well-known collector Jack Halpern of San Francisco. Jack focused on beauty, color and aesthetics in his collection which included some synthetic and man-made examples. Ex. Jack Halpern Collection No. 305.
