Item Description
Tertiary silicified petrified palm wood from the Texas Gulf Coast is well-known to fossil and mineral collectors and to the lapidiary trade. This is a classic, showy, flattened portion of a palm tree trunk or branch. The tube-like vascular system is readily apparent on the outside and on the inside of the sliced and polished end. The pretty and wide variety of colors make for fine lapidiary material. This piece has rich golden-yellow color and could be slabbed or made into cabachons. Ex Consie Prince Collection. 402 grams. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON, as the high luster washed out the rich golden color on the slabbed and polished end.
