Item Description
Sharp, lustrous, moderately translucent unique olive-green andradite garnet dodecahedrons, to 1.8 cm, with a metallic sheen are densely intergrown on this impressive large undulating specimen from the well-known Stanley Butte area of Arizona. Bright light reveals areas of greenish-gold in the interior. The piece is solid andradite, as the underlying interior is granular andradite and there are more dodecs on the back side. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. An important large and rich andradite from the locale and a must for the species or Arizona collector. Mass is 1954 grams or 4.3 pounds. This is a HUGE example from this old lcoation, and highly valued by USA and Arizona collectors. We have seen smaller examples half this size for sale at shows for $1000 and more. This is a giant!
