Item Description
A classic Siderite specimen from Leadville showing the well known and distinctive "disc"-shaped crystals. The six-sided compressed scalenohedra have a gentle greenish-brown hue with good luster, sharpness, and are actually a bit gemmy when backlit. Superb quality for the locality, even if the crystals are a bit smaller. The Siderites are spotted by small black Sphalerite groups for a nice touch. One of the few pieces of this sought after material that I have offered, since they are so rarely offered on the market these days. From the Brian Kosnar collection, obtained from Bob Stoufer in Ouray, Colorado whose label states that it was collected by Mike Sterkel in the 1980s.
