Item Description
Lustrous, translucent, olive-brown, siderite rhombs to 2.0 cm glisten on this classic old-time and very rare combination specimen from Neudorf. Quartz and calcite are also present. Some faces have a nifty, preferential coatings of sparkly, drusy quartz. Extremely rare for the locale, modified, frosted, amber, scalenohedral calcite crystals to 1.0 cm (doubly terminated) are scattered on the specimen. Essentially pristine, except for trivial periphery wear. Outstanding and very rare old combination material, as the mines closed in 1903. Neudorf is the subject of an extensive and excellent article in the current issue of the Mineralogical Record. Great timing! Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Valued at $1200-1500. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
