Item Description

A gorgeous miniature display specimen of Sphärosiderite (Sphaerosiderite), a rare microcrystalline, botryoidal variety of Siderite. Specimens from the Columbia River basalts in the Spokane area are fairly rare to begin with, and are seldom seen for sale on the market. This beautiful specimen features a fine quality, dark brown, lustrous (vitreous) radial aggregates measuring 1.0 cm across, nestled into a vug in matrix. No damage, and a very attractive and choice specimen of this hard to find material.
From the collection of Kay Robertson (#6382). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
