Item Description
This ancient lead-zinc mining district was first mentioned in documents in 1336! Some mines are still active. This sculptural and aesthetic plate consists of chains of sharp, highly lustrous, wet-look, olive-brown, siderite rhombs in interesting forms. The luster is pearlescent, you could even say. The striking loop at the top looks like a necklace! This style of siderite is uncommon and is way above average for Cavnic. The underlying matrix is sphalerite and pyrite. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. A VERY nice and interesting piece, valued $400
