Item Description

Mineral specimens are uncommon from this old Iowa coal strip mining area and well-formed siderite specimens are RARE. Sharp, highly lustrous, two-toned brown rhombs, to 1.4 cm on the diagonal, aesthetically cover the mounded shale matrix. The periphery wear reveals the underlying translucent golden-orange color of the rhombs, adding character. Rare and excellent material from the University of Delaware and George Feist Collections. Valued at $450 for rarity and quality. A MUST for the locality or species collector.
