Siderite & Quartz (Trimingham Coll.)

Item Description

A sculptural and showy large combination from the famous mines at Panasqueira and the Bob Trimingham Collection. A 4.7 cm, lustrous, tan, siderite disk jauntily caps the fine curtain-like cluster of very glassy, transparent to translucent quartz points. The projecting quartz points and another siderite disk at the base are nifty accents. Much of the back side is preferentially coated with rosettes of smaller siderite disks. The left edge of the large siderite is broken, but this remains an excellent and highly representative large example of species and noted locale. Purchased in 1984 from Frazier's Minerals at Livermore, California.
