Item Description
The name of the Siete Suyos Mine translates into "Seven Servants" in English. Additionally some of the locals considered Siete Suyos to be part of the Animas Mine, but perhaps somebody tried to market it as a new locality. A lot of Bolivian material is often sold with erroneous locality information, but this one was purchased at the locality from the man who found it a few years ago. If you like carbonates, this is a great piece to add to your collection. This attractive small cabinet piece hosts many sharp, well-formed, attractive, gemmy, eye-catching greenish-golden color hexagonal crystals of Siderite measuring up to 1.3 cm across which are covering the underlying metallic golden Pyrite matrix. Most Siderite from Bolivian is dark brown / black and opaque, so the fact that these crystals gemmy(!) is a big deal. As a matter of fact, you really don't see Siderite crystals quite like this from any world locality, so they're not only significant from Bolivia, but also on a worldwide scale. The piece is in great shape overall, as the vast majority of the crystals are undamaged, though the periphery is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. I only have a handful of these left to offer, and not that many were found, so if you're interested in picking one of these up, now is the time. There are very few of these left, and the discovery was quite limited, so if you're a collector of Bolivian minerals, be sure to pick this one up.
