Item Description

A nearly large cabinet sized display specimen of what are some of the most iconic old-world Siderites ever found. These classics from Neudorf can be seen in old museum collections around the world, and experienced collectors know how important they are in terms of their place in the history of mineral collecting. This specimen is loaded with sharp, well-formed, translucent, greenish-brown rhombic crystals of Siderite, with individual crystals measuring up to a whopping 2.3 cm across along with a handful of GEM quality colorless, thin Quartz prisms, for a nice touch. The entire display side is loaded with crystals, for the age of the piece (it's well over 100 years old, as the mines closed in 1903), it's in remarkably good shape, with only a few bruises to the central crystals, though it's forgivably contacted around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. Pieces of this size and quality are quite difficult to find on the market, If you collect worldwide Siderites or carbonates or German classics, don't miss out on this eye-catching piece from this historic locality.
