Item Description

The famous Eagle Mine is renowned for producing some of the most recognizable minerals from any locality in Colorado. The distinctive sulfides along with beautiful carbonates made this mine a favorite for collectors, as it often produced big showy and well-crystallized specimens. This is a classic piece of Siderite from this well-known locale featuring highly compressed rhombic "discs" measuring up to 1.6 cm across with minor associated Pyrite and Galena on matrix. It appears the surface of some of the Galena cubes may be altering to either white Anglesite or Cerussite. Good condition all around, very little damage. This locality has been closed for decades and will never produce these specimens again. From the collection of Lee B. Burnett of Morrison, Colorado (#LB509)
