Item Description

Densely intergrown, classic, glassy, lustrous, translucent, yellow-green siderite rhombs with striking stepped-growth faces form a showy and sculptural small cabinet from the well-known finds at Nova Lima. The rhombs reach 2.5 cm and are very nicely accented with sharp, contrasting, bone-white dolomite rhombs. The piece displays well from both directions. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10487 and acquired from Mike Ridding in Banff, Canada in August, 1984. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Choice and classic combination material, probably from the famous Morro Velho gold mine, but no proof.
