Item Description

One of the great Cornish classics are the Siderites from the Virtuous Lady Mine. This piece is a distinctive and eye-catching specimen of Siderite with notably "curved" compressed crystals of greenish-brown Siderite on Quartz matrix. The largest Siderite measures 5 mm across. Very little damage to speak of, and the crystals are even a bit gemmy when backlit. Any Cornwall collector should have one of these in their collection, and based upon my experience, very few of them are available these days Arguably one of the world's most famous pseudomorphs / "casts" is the large specimen of Siderite after Fluorite with a little white Quartz spray inside which belongs to the British Museum.
