Siderite cast after Calcite w/ Chalcopyrite (Cook Coll.)

Siderite pseudomorphs after calcite rhombohedrons are a classic Turt Mine species and this is an exceptional small cabinet example. The sculptural and aesthetic piece is dominated by the dramatic large casted calcite rhomb (epimorph), 5.9 cm on the diagonal. The sparkly tan siderite shows the full removal and casting of siderite atop of the surfaces of the previous calcite crystal. The view into the sharp and patterned, yet hollow interior fantastically enhances the piece. The back of the piece is peppered with coated golden chalcopyrite crystals, as a bonus. This is simply one of the sharpest and finest examples, period, that we have seen of this now-classic old material. It also is a perfectly balanced, display sized, small cabinet specimen.
