Item Description

Lustrous, dark brown, compound, stepped-growth siderite rhombs attractively fill a vug and are strikingly accented with barite blade sections on this very rare combination from these historic old Pb-Cu mines. The matrix is massive hematite and the base has been sawed. The nearby Kibblehouse Quarry does not mine rock types with siderite and barite. The barite blades on this piece resemble those shown in the MINDAT photo gallery for Perkiomen Mines barite. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and formerly in the Jay Buscio Collection, according to his label. A must for the species or locality collector.
