Item Description

The Nikolaevskiy Mine at famous Dalnegorsk is well-known for surreal siderite "balls". This striking, nearly perfectly spherical ball is composed of three generations of siderite. The impressive large ball is siderite. Sparkly, gray, drusy calcite covers the ball. The bottom of the ball is covered with 2nd generation drusy dark gray siderite. 3rd generation spherical aggregates of tiny siderite blades and isolated siderite crystals are richly peppered on all sides of the piece. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. A few bruised 3rd generation siderite aggregates are noted and the out-of-sight contact is at the base of the piece. Faint dark orange LW UV calcite fluorescence. A distinctive and highly unusual siderite ball from the noted locale.
