Siderite and Albite

A big, brown and sharp Siderite crystal sits upright on a sculptural matrix covered with small, white Albite crystals on this fine small cabinet specimen from Mont St-Hilaire. The brawny Siderite measures 5 cm across the diagonal and has razor sharp edges the faces have good luster with low-profile stepped rhombic growth hillocks. This is a complete all-around and undamaged crystal with the backside attached to matrix, and it has perfect placement on the piece for great balance and presentation. There is even a small, 1 cm Siderite at the top of the piece on a swirl in the Albite crystals. The small, 1 to 2.5 mm, off-white Albite crystals completely cover the display face upon which the big Siderite sits on. Siderite of quality is extremely rare for this classic, important locality, and this is a rare large and display-quality specimen. Valued $1000-1500. You simply do not see them for sale. Not as sexy as a serandite, but then it's also perhaps actually more rare for this locale!
