Item Description
Mined by Gregoire De Bodinat at the well-known Message Mine, this piece was purchased at the Sainte Marie aux Mines Show in 2016. A group of very sharp, highly lustrous, compressed, gemmy, greenish-brown colored Siderite rhombohedra meauring up to 1.0 cm cover the underlying matrix. The Siderite crystals are are associated with golden metallic Pyrite crystals and very minor Quartz. Arguably the most well known mineral from all of Isere is Siderite. This piece is actually from an active mine, but dates back nearly 200 years. It has produced some fantastic green Siderite specimens, which are some of the finest known examples from Isere, or any European locality for that matter. This piece is nearly damage free and would make a nice addition to any carbonate suite or a collection of European minerals.
